ESTEBAN CHÁVEZ
Estaban focuses his practice on domestic and international commercial arbitration and litigation before national courts. He has participated in resolving infrastructure, hydrocarbons, unfair competition, telecommunications, commercial distribution, and corporate disputes. He has experience in arbitration proceedings conducted under the rules of the CCB.
Before joining Rincón Castro Abogados, he worked in conflict resolution at two of Colombia’s most recognized law firms and was executive director of judicial affairs for a multinational beverage company. He has been a professor of Competition Law at Universidad del Rosario and is continuously invited to participate as a panelist in different academic forums.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
– Represents an autonomous patrimony attached to a Colombian state-owned entity in an international arbitration administered by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce initiated by a concessionaire for the alleged breach of several construction contracts for the construction of educational institutions throughout the country.
– Represents and advises two private investment funds that own a road project in Colombia in the resolution of a dispute with the operation and maintenance contractor.
– Successfully represented the company that built, operated, and maintained a gas pipeline of more than 740 km as a defendant in a national arbitration initiated by the utility company that received the pipeline for its subsequent operation and maintenance.
– Successfully represented a leading multinational company in the telecommunications sector in three domestic arbitrations against three of its suppliers for disputes arising from the interpretation and nature of the commercial distribution contracts entered into.
– Successfully represented Inversiones de Gases de Colombia S.A. -Invercolsa, a minority shareholder of a gas distribution company in eastern Colombia, in a domestic arbitration against the majority shareholders of this company for the decisions taken at the shareholders’ meeting.
– Represented one of Colombia’s leading cities’ integrated mass transportation systems in a domestic arbitration against one of its operators for breach of the operating concession contract.
– Successfully represented a Japanese multinational automotive company in an antitrust investigation initiated by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce.
